In the cooler months of the year, the blades of a ceiling fan should be set to rotate clockwise. Why? Beacause it forces warm air at the top of a the room which causes the air to recirculate downward into the “living space”. Proper ceiling fan blade rotation can change a room’s “feel” by 8 degrees or more (it’s a huge help in our summer months here in our Clearwater Florida home), allowing for more modest settings on a home thermostat.
