Permalink January 07, 2008 21:56:07Comment from: Cyndee Haydon [Visitor] · http://www.SandbarsToSunsets.comJohn - When you enter Clearwater Beach from the main road - US 60 - you hit the road that goes along our beaches - in most of Pinellas County this road is called "Gulf Blvd" since it runs along our beaches on the Gulf of Mexico however when you follow this road to North Clearwater Beach this road is called Mandalay Avenue (I believe after the original hotel on Clearwater Beach - The Mandalay Hotel and the north beach residential area is called Mandalay as well) and the developer of this luxury development, JMC Developers takes great pride in the heritage of the areas they build in - they also built the amazing Sandpearl Residences and the Sandpearl Resort as well as Belle Harbor. I know that was a long answer but I figures others may have the same question - thanks for asking! So no, to the best of my knowledge it has nothing to do with Las Vegas - if anyone else knows differently I hope they'll chime in since I love learning about our history and heritage!
